She described the Naracoorte collection of 198 pieces, which comprises mostly of works on paper, as "something special." "I love the beautiful Cortez painting and the first work that really drew me in was the large scale Dale Frank pencil drawing,' she said. "This is the first step of the grant funding process and then in the future there might be other grants that could be applied for for specific projects such as converting one of the rooms into a collection store and investing in collection housing equipment," she said.
During the visit, Ms Clanachan reviewed the structure and the governance of the regional art gallery collection and provided recommendations for future resourcing, in terms of funding options to support the conservation and housing of the collection. Curator of collections at Flinders University Museum of Art Alice Clanachan spent four days in Naracoorte last month to help the gallery with the assessment and help provide some advice on future funding opportunities.
